Customers with HSBC accounts in France: account number format moving to IBAN

Dear HSBCnet User,

Effective 18 July 2015, the account number format for HSBC accounts in France on HSBCnet will move to International Bank Account Number (IBAN) format, as part of implementation of the SEPA standard. This change will facilitate more streamlined reconciliation and will be reflected in Account Information as well as all payment screens.

Current HSBCnet format

IBAN format (from 18 July 2015)

00120003456EUR

FR7630056000240012000345625

Important information for customers downloading statements from HSBCnet:

Information in your bank statements could change due to this enhancement, and as a result your ERP systems or automated account reconciliation programs may be impacted. If you download statements from HSBCnet for software (ERP) integration, please review the following to ensure on-going operation of your automated reconciliation processes:

  • Check that your ERP system supports IBAN format.
  • After 18 July: update your ERP system setup, if needed.

From 18 July, statements in MT940 will be updated to quote the IBAN account number, in the account number field (tag 25). Please note that there will be no impact for CFONB statements.

Customers using File Upload service
After the effective date, customers using the File Upload service can input either the existing 11-digit HSBCnet account number format or the new IBAN account number format in their payment files.

IBAN account numbers are already available in HSBCnet.
To view, log onto HSBCnet and select “Account Information” from under the “Accounts” tab located in the top main menu bar. When a France domiciled account is selected (either directly or via the Quick filter) it’s unique “Account Information” page will appear and include the IBAN.

For further assistance with this change, please contact your local HSBCnet Support Centre.

Sincerely,

Your HSBCnet Team
