Customers with accounts in UAE: new pension requirements and ACH Credit enhancements
Beginning 20 March 2015, Banks in UAE are required to report details of pension contributions by customers for UAE nationals to the Ministry of Labour.
To support this, ACH Credit screens for accounts in UAE are being updated to capture additional details for pension payments. The new screens are much more user friendly and follow the current payment processing workflow for easy transition.
In addition to requirements to update details for pension payments, you will also be required to notify us in writing of any adjustments to staff pension payments.
Payment files submitted via HSBCnet File Upload tool are also being enhanced to capture the additional details for pension payments and to capture Purpose of Payment - Purpose of payment for all ACH Credit payments will also become mandatory as of 20 March.
Read on for detailed information on how ACH Credit screens are being enhanced to support UAE pension requirements, as well as information for customers using File Upload.
Customers with accounts in Qatar: enhanced ACH Credit payment screens
Effective 21 February, 2015 ACH Credit screens for accounts in Qatar are being updated to capture additional details. The new screens are much more user friendly and follow the current payment processing workflow for easy transition.
Several labels on the ‘Create new ACH Payment’ screen have been changed to ensure payment instruction information is easier to complete and more accurate.
The look and feel for the ‘Review’, ‘Acknowledgement’, ‘Authorisation Summary’, ‘Authorisation’ and ‘Partial Authorisation’ screens have also been updated but previous functionality remains intact.

Implementation of new Payment Purpose codes for payments to Jordan
As per Central Bank of Jordan’s directives, all incoming and outgoing payments (MT103) processed through Jordanian banks must clearly include a Purpose Code in field 70 of the MT103. This is now in effect as of 2 February 2015.
As a result, the inclusion of the code referencing the purpose of payment (PoP) should be given in the below format for all payments being sent to Jordanian banks to ensure that processing delays and additional repair fees may not apply.
Formatting guidelines for the field 70 of MT103: Payment Details Line 1 : / <4 digit purpose code> -Mandatory field-/<first 29 characters of description of the purpose code> -Optional field- Payment Details Line 2 : //<Remaining characters of description of the purpose code>- Optional field - Payment Details Line 3 and 4 : // continuation of the description and additional information where necessaryList of PoP codes:

When submitting foreign currency payments, it is recommended that the payment instructions are submitted and authorised before the established payment cut-off times to ensure that there is sufficient time to meet the necessary processing requirements.
Instructions not authorised by the cut-off time are subject to value date rollover. In such situations, the authoriser must enter a new value date (or accept the new date suggested by the system) and then authorise the instruction.
Security Tip: protecting yourself against phishing attempts
Internet users should be wary of rising online phishing scams using fraudulent e-mails that appear to come from trusted sources. Learn how to protect your accounts.
