For customers with accounts in Poland: Social Security (ZUS) regulations

Last updated: 4 June 2018

We’re updating HSBCnet in line with local regulatory requirements related to Social Security (ZUS) payments in Poland.

What’s changing?

Effective 17 June 2018, we’re incorporating Social Security (ZUS) payments into the ‘Standard Payment’ Polish payment type on HSBCnet. The separate Social Security payment type will no longer be available on HSBCnet after 17 June.

What does this mean for me?

After 17 June, you’ll need to select the ‘Priority Payment’ payment type and the ‘Standard Payment’ Polish payment type to settle Social Security (ZUS) payments on HSBCnet.
When inputting a beneficiary account, use the account number as provided to you by the Social Security Office in Poland.

Do I need to do anything before 17 June?

  • Pending transactions:
Effective 17 June, any Polish Social Security transactions that are in ‘pending’ status will be automatically returned with the ‘rejected by bank’ status. If you don’t approve pending transactions before 17 June, you’ll need to re-create the payment instruction after 17 June using the Standard Payment type.

  • General and Restricted templates:
If you have any General and Restricted templates for Polish Social Security payments, they’ll be automatically adjusted to the Standard Payment format.

  • Standing Instructions:
Before 17 June, please review any Standing Instructions and update them if needed.

  • Payment files (File Upload):
Social Security instructions sent in the existing format will continue to work until further notice.
