Customers with accounts in Hong Kong: foreign exchange forward contract service enhancements
Dear HSBCnet User,
As part of our ongoing review of the products and services offered via HSBCnet, the foreign exchange (FX) forward contract services on HSBCnet will soon be enhanced for accounts domiciled in Hong Kong.
Over the months of October and December 2015, the way in which forward contract payments are submitted and processed via HSBCnet will be changing. Please review the information below for details on how these changes may impact your HSBCnet service.
Forward rates for forward-dated payment and transfer instructions
Effective 25 October 2015, FX rates for forward-dated instructions will be fixed based on the value date of the payment/transfer instruction using the Bank’s prevailing rate. After the effective date, online forward rates for forward-dated payment or transfer instructions will not be available on HSBCnet. If you would like to book a forward FX rate that is hedged for a specific value date, you will need to individually arrange for a FX forward contract with your HSBC representative.
Forward contract settlements
As of 18 December 2015, your FX forward contracts will be automatically settled and you will no longer be required to provide settlement instructions on HSBCnet. After the effective date, the debit account as listed in your contract will automatically be debited and the exchanged funds credited to your nominated settlement account without the need to provide any on-screen FX details in HSBCnet.
From 18 December, when creating a payment instruction using the credited funds after contract take-up on HSBCnet, follow the steps as follows:
- Select the settlement account as the debit account;
- Choose the payment currency as the final intended currency for the beneficiary account;
- Do not input any FX contract numbers in the payment.
