Hello,
When logging on to HSBCnet, are you asked to provide additional information other than your username, password and security code.
Be careful! It could be cyber fraud.
Protect yourself online:
- Don’t bookmark HSBCnet in your browser’s favorites. Instead, type in
www .hsbcnet .com into your browser window to access HSBCnet.- Make sure you have up-to-date antivirus software installed on all devices used to access HSBCnet. Alternatively, you can install Webroot at no additional charge:
www .hsbcnet .com/online-security > Webroot SecureAnywhere- If you receive a message telling you to activate your service, DO NOT open any links in the message.
- HSBC will never perform a ‘security validation’ during your HSBCnet session
- HSBC will never ask you over the phone to provide any of your security details such as your PIN, password or security code generated from your Security Device or mobile device.
- If your email is compromised and a fraudster has taken it over, please call the bank immediately to suspend access to remove risk of the fraudster gaining access to your accounts.
- You should avoid using common usernames and passwords for your email and banking applications as fraudsters could use your username and password information which may be available on the dark web. You should always have unique usernames and passwords for your email accounts and financial bank sites. If available, you should enable 2-factor authentication (2FA) on email and/or avoid storage of personal data on email accounts online, which could become available to fraudsters in a situation of Business Email Compromise.
- NEVER provide information if you’re asked to authenticate more than once when logging on to HSBCnet, even if a pop-up window appears requesting you to update security details.
If someone calls asking for confidential details:
- Do not share any information and hang up
- Immediately call your local HSBCnet Support Centre
- Contact your Relationship Manager or go to your nearest branch
