For customers with accounts in the US: upcoming changes to how checks are displayed on account statementsLast updated: 4 July 2018 From 9 July 2018, check numbers will be 10 digits long on your US account statements. If the actual check number is less than 10 digits, we’ll add preceding zeroes to make the total length equal to 10 digits. This change will apply to all electronic statements on HSBCnet and HSBC Connect. You can find check numbers displayed in the Customer Reference field on your US account statements. Why is this changing? We recently upgraded our systems to provide you with a more efficient and consistent banking experience. After this upgrade, the actual check numbers are provided on your statements without any preceding zeroes. Based on your feedback, we’re returning to the 10-digit check number format on 9 July. What this means for you If checks are presented on your account, you’ll notice 10 digits displayed on your statements, as they were prior to 10 June 2018. Find out more |
