Hong Kong accounts: new payment currencies available

We’ve introduced new currencies when you create Priority Payments and Inter-account Transfers in HSBCnet from HSBC Hong Kong accounts.

HSBCnet ‘Create payment or transfer’ screens will now include Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) and Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) as available payment currencies per the table below:

What this means for you

HSBCnet users with permissions to create Priority Payments and/or Inter-account Transfers debiting HSBC Hong Kong accounts will be able to initiate a payment instruction in the currencies listed above.

Please note: The Get Rate feature is not available for IDR or MYR payments debiting HSBC Hong Kong accounts. The applied foreign exchange rate will be available in the ‘Account Information’ tool after the payment is processed.

Payments in MYR currency require Purpose of Payment codes to be selected when creating payments in HSBCnet. You can view the full list of Purpose of Payment codes with descriptions by selecting the ‘View purpose of payment details’ link in ‘Create payment or transfer’ screens.

Here’s where you’ll find the ‘Purpose of MYR payment’ field in HSBCnet payment screens:

Any payment sent in MYR currency without the required supporting documentation may be delayed or rejected. As a reminder, you can attach additional information to the payment instruction during payment creation, payment authorisation or in Track Payments.
