Malaysia accounts: changes for DuitNow payments coming 21 March

On 21 March 2021, we’re upgrading our systems to provide you with more room in the Recipient reference field when sending DuitNow payments from your HSBC accounts in Malaysia.

What’s changing?

From 21 March, your DuitNow Pay-to-Proxy and Pay-to-Account Number payments will support up to 140 characters (increased from 40 characters) in the mandatory Recipient reference field.

Account information and statement reporting

Beginning 21 March, your statement entries in Account information and in reports downloaded using the Reports and files download service will also include the full recipient reference information.

If you use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems or automated account reconciliation programs for your electronic statements, you may be impacted. Please review the detailed information about the changes to your statement reporting.
