US accounts: transaction limit increase for same-day ACH transactions

Last updated: 1 June 2020

The US National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) has updated same-day settlement rules for ACH payments to increase the per transaction limit from USD 25,000 to USD 100,000. Starting 15 June, HSBCnet’s Payments service will be updated to allow you to submit same-day US ACH payments valued up to USD 100,000 per transaction.

What this means for you

To submit your ACH payments with same-day settlement, your payments must be:

  • created and authorised before 12:00 noon EST;
  • less than or equal to USD 100,000; and
  • issued to a domestic beneficiary (where beneficiary bank location is located within the US).

Please note, ACH payments submitted for same-day processing are subject to additional charges. For pricing information, please contact your HSBC representative.

If you don’t wish to send a same-day ACH payment and incur the additional charges, you can send a standard ACH payment by either:

  • inputting the value date as the next/future business day’s date; or
  • selecting the ‘as soon as possible’ option in the payment details.
