For customers with accounts in Canada: new beneficiary address validation requirement for payments to Canada, Mexico and the US

Last updated: 27 August 2018

As of 10 September 2018, you’ll notice a new address validation checkbox in the Beneficiary address field. The address validation checkbox will appear on HSBCnet’s Priority Payment/Customer Transfer screens for transactions debiting Canadian accounts and being sent to Canada, Mexico or the US.

What does this mean for me?

By checking this new Beneficiary address validation box, you’ll acknowledge that you have completed the beneficiary’s street address in full, including the unit number (if applicable), street number, street name, city and province/state.

What do I need to do?

We recommend that you review your payment templates to make sure that they contain the complete beneficiary address and update them, as needed.

Reminder: if you change a Restricted Template, another authorised user is required to approve the template in the Payment Authorisation Summary service to complete the update.

What will happen to my payment templates that include beneficiary banks located in Canada, Mexico or the US?

On 10 September, these template screens will be updated with the Beneficiary address validation checkbox. When you create a payment from these templates from 10 September, select the checkbox to confirm that you’ve included the complete beneficiary address.

Please note, if your payment template contains incomplete address information, you’ll need to update the template with the full address before you’re able to proceed with the payment.
