Hong Kong Faster Payment System (FPS) now available on HSBCnet

Last updated: 11 October 2018

As previously announced, we’re updating HSBCnet to support the new Faster Payment System (FPS) in Hong Kong. The Faster Payment System is a 24/7 payment system which supports real-time domestic HKD and RMB funds transfers. It also provides you with an additional option to send and receive HKD and RMB funds locally using an alias (also known as a proxy ID), instead of using bank account numbers.

What does this mean for me?

With the Faster Payment System, you can receive and make payments faster and more efficiently. As funds transfers via the Faster Payment System can be made using an alias, there’s no need to disclose your bank account number to your payor and you only need to know your payees’ alias to make a payment.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve started introducing new services on HSBCnet:

  • Alias Management
You can register an alias for your organisation's bank account on HSBCnet.
  • Priority Payments via FPS
From 30 September 2018, you're now able to send Priority Payments via Faster Payment System on HSBCnet.
  • ACH Credit payments via FPS (coming soon)
We'll be rolling out ACH payments via the Faster Payment System in the next phase and will notify you in due course.
