For customers with accounts in Bermuda: PAP ACH payments no longer available as of 17 June 2018

Last updated: 24 April 2018

Effective 17 June 2018, the PAP file format will no longer be available as an ACH payment option for accounts in Bermuda.

We’re making this change to align with global payment standards that require detailed beneficiary information in ACH payment instructions.

What you need to know

1. Payments submitted on-screen in HSBCnet:

Your ACH payment instructions from accounts in Bermuda must include valid beneficiary names.

As of 17 June, payments submitted without a valid beneficiary name may be rejected.

As a best practice, we encourage that you review your payment instructions to make sure that they contain the complete beneficiary information before creating payments from your templates.

Reminder: if you change a Restricted Template, another user is required to approve the template in the Payment Authorisation Summary service in order for it to be updated.

2. Payments submitted via File Upload

From 17 June, you’ll no longer see the PAP file format as an option for ACH payments in the File Upload service drop-down menu on HSBCnet.

To avoid payment delays due to this upcoming change, we recommend that you update your payment files by 31 May to one of the following supported formats:

  • XML v2
  • XML v3
  • iFile
  • Paymul

The file formats listed above require your input of the full beneficiary names in the payment instructions.

Alternatively, you can change your payment method and submit your ACH transactions via HSBCnet’s ACH payment screens.
