Customers with accounts in the Mexico: mandatory Purpose of Payment codes for cross-border (international) payments

Please review the below for detailed information on how to include Purpose of Payment codes in your cross-border payments from accounts in Mexico.

Cross-border payments submitted on-screen in HSBCnet

We recommend that you start updating your relevant payment templates today with valid Purpose of Payment codes.

Select the appropriate code information in the Regulatory reporting field (highlighted below) when making on-screen payments in HSBCnet:

  1. For the SWIFT codeword, select  /BENEFRES/ or /ORDERRES/  (both are valid)
  2. Choose MX Mexico from the country list.
  3. Select the Add Payment Purpose code button to choose a relevant code for your payment.

The Purpose of payment should contain the following information:  
/BENEFRES/Country Code*//Purpose of payment. 
Example:
. /BENEFRES/MX//01

* Country code should be 2 characters as per ISO standard.
