For customers using Internet Explorer: upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 to keep accessing HSBCnet

Last updated: 27 June 2017

From September 2017 you won’t be able to see new HSBCnet functionality on Internet Explorer 8. Upgrade your browser before then to make sure you have uninterrupted access and the highest level of browser security.

How do I upgrade my browser?

It’s quick and easy to do from Microsoft’s website – download Internet Explorer 11 *

Or you could download one of these browsers instead: *

Why are you no longer supporting IE8?

Older versions of internet browsers are often more vulnerable to viruses, malware and other security issues. They’re also slower and sometimes can’t show newer websites because of outdated display capabilities.

That’s why we make new HSBCnet functionality available on the most up-to-date internet browsers only. It’s all part of our commitment to maintaining the highest security standards and enhancing our system integrity.

What if I don’t upgrade my browser?

Continuing to use IE8 will compromise your secure access and limit your access to HSBC’s online banking services. Your computer may also be more vulnerable to malware if you don’t regularly update your browser.

What if I can’t upgrade my browser?

If you’re blocked from downloading or updating software by IT restrictions, or you still need to use IE8 for other systems, you may need to speak with your organisation’s IT manager.
