For customers with accounts in Hong Kong: New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) currency will be unavailable from 13 November 2017

Last updated: 10 October 2017

Effective 13 November 2017, the New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) will no longer be available as a payment currency option for accounts in Hong Kong.

What this means for you
From 13 November 2017, the TWD currency will not be available in the currency drop-down menu on HSBCnet payment screens. This change applies for Priority Payments (including templates) from all debit accounts in Hong Kong.

  • TWD currency payments until 10 November 2017
You can continue to make TWD currency payments that are value-dated up to 10 November 2017. If you have any TWD Payments that are forward-dated after 10 November, the system will reject these payments on their value dates. We recommend that you review your forward-dated payments and templates and update the currency or value date, as needed.

  • Payments to Taiwan after 10 November 2017
When sending payments to Taiwan after 10 November, you must select other supported currencies from the drop-down menu on HSBCnet (such as HKD, USD, or EUR).
