Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. If a beneficiary is currently registered for on-screen payments via payment templates, do I also need to register them for File Upload by submitting a Payment Beneficiary file?

It depends on how you are making a payment to them. If you are submitting a payment via File Upload to the beneficiary, you are also required to register them by uploading a Payment Beneficiary file.

  2. After I have uploaded a Payment Beneficiary file to register a beneficiary, what should I do before I submit a payment to them?

After you have uploaded a Payment Beneficiary file, you must:
    • download the Beneficiary Upload report in Reports and Files Download service to confirm successful status of the registration, then
    • wait 30 minutes before uploading a payment file.

  3. If my payment file contains some registered beneficiaries and some unregistered beneficiaries, will the entire file be rejected?

No, the rejection occurs at instruction level. Payments for registered beneficiaries will be processed and payments to unregistered beneficiaries will be rejected.

  4. If I have registered a beneficiary only for ACH, can I send a Priority Payment to them?

No, in this case your Priority Payment to this beneficiary will be rejected. You must also register them for Priority Payments to be able to send a Priority Payment to them.

  5. How do I update a registered beneficiary’s details if their information has changed?

You must upload a new Payment Beneficiary file with the updated details.

  6. How do I find out which beneficiaries have been registered on HSBCnet?

You can schedule/generate a detailed status report of your registered beneficiaries by using HSBCnet’s Create Customised Report Definition service. For instructions, select ‘Help’ in the Create Customised Report Definition service and review the How to create a Beneficiary records report guide.
